Tuakana Teina Halloween!

On Monday we celebrated Halloween with our buddy class Room 1!

At Midday we joined classes in the art room and made three different types of crafts that related to Halloween. It was a great opportunity for our Room 8 students to show their leadership, manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and ako skills! In the afternoon we made Halloween masks in Room 1.

Tongan Language Week

This week is Tongan Language week and in Room 8 we have been making Tapa Cloths to celebrate it!

Traditionally in Tonga, Tapa cloths are made from tree bark and ink. We didn't have the time to chop trees and roll out bark so we got creative and used normal A4 paper with some tea!

We use tea to dye the paper a light brown colour and scrunched it up to give it some texture. 

Students researched Tongan Tapa cloth designs and got to work creating their patterns.

Welcome back to term 3

Welcome back to Term Three!

Room 8 is really excited to be back for another great term. We have so much going on this term, with an inquiry focus of "Safety" and of course the 2016 Olympics!

Here is our artwork that we made of the Rio 2016 Olympic Logo - each student was given a square to copy and they had to try and guess what the whole image looked like. This is what it created!

Calendar Art with Mrs Manuyag!

Today, Room 8 were lucky to have a session in the Art Room with Mrs Manuyag!  We were working on calendar art, which will be sold to help fundraise for our school.  Mrs Manuyag introduced us to Zentangles.  It was a really fun experience and they came out looking fantastic!  We can't wait to place our orders!
